FAQ
-
What is the mission of The 1928 Foundation?
-
To preserve, maintain and restore our historic buildings, the seawall, to support the local ecological integrity and environmental preservation of the land abutting the ocean and the river in part through scientific research, studies and education and all other educational, scientific and charitable purposes allowable under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
-
-
Is my donation tax-deductible?
-
Yes, to the fullest extent of the law as defined under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
-
-
Is this a one-time only ask?
-
No. As older historic buildings and grounds need upkeep, this foundation will be in place for perpetuity, providing financial support.
-
The goal is to eventually build an endowment where interest earned may cover costs and the principal may be required should there be a catastrophic event. Providing for future needs is a prudent and wise plan.

-
How is a donation to The 1928 Foundation different from the current assessments?
-
A decision to assess members came after the 2023-2024 winter storms which inflicted damage on the dunes and the seawall. It became apparent that the wall rebuilt in 1991 needs improvements to protect the clubhouse and lawn.
-
The creation of The 1928 Foundation has arisen from the realization that the future physical health of the properties needs to be supported in a fiscally responsible way for generations to come.
